| The lesson program at Powder View Stables was created with the amateur and youth rider in mind. We strive to cater a lesson program to meet each students needs and personal goals. All beginning riders start with the basics of horsemanship and dressage, also they will be taught many aspects of horse care and actually be prepared for horse ownership. As the riders progress through the levels different disciplines may be chosen depending on the desires of the student. We currently accept students that ride Dressage from Intro to 2nd level, we accept all levels of Hunt Seat, and Jumping riders as well. Of course we can't forget anyone who wants to learn to ride western! Western riders find that our dressage basics will help establish a more balanced seat, and a better partnership with their horse! (for more information on western lessons please scroll to the bottom of the page) We strive to make the complicated theories and topics simple, and want to make each ride a safe and fun one! All lessons are conducted by Andrea Cole our CHA (certified horsemanship association) Certified Instructor! Andrea is certified Level 4 English riding and Level 2 Western riding. |

Riding Lessons for Children/Teens with ADD and ADHD Over the past several years we have seen first hand how rewarding riding can be for children with ADD and ADHD. Seeing continued success with these students has encouraged us to branch out to more people that need horses as a kind of "therapy". Teaching these children has been extremely rewarding to me as a trainer because with the aid of a horse I help them feel successful and confident. Many children who have trouble in group sports or other activities find riding to be a truly rewarding experience and find themselves succeeding in every lesson! The art of learning to ride builds slowly from the basics and the rider takes each lesson and applies it to the next, this acts as a building block for success. The students work one on one with the trainer (and of course the horse) from the beginning and each student will progress at a rate that is beneficial to their wellbeing. If you haven't tried horseback riding for your child with ADD or ADHD we encourage you to! You will see what a positive influence it has on them after only a couple lessons! Please contact us for more information about this wonderful program! References are available! |

| The Western Side of Things While most of our riders do ride English we do have a handful of clients in Western saddles. These riders are finding the benefits of using their bodies to slow their horse, and finding ways to make the horse engage his hindquarters and lift his forehand and become more collected. Western horses do not need their mouths pulled and sides spurred, they can be light and sensitive to the natural aids and preform just as well. We strive to create a western horse that is light in the mouth, responsive to seat, weight and leg cues, and willing to collect and extend when asked. It takes an extreme amount of athletic ability to collect correctly, and this is the ultimate goal we are working towards. Additional photos to come |
