Andrea Cole- Owner and Trainer
From early it was quite evident that horses were her
passion in life, and it became a goal to make sure her future
involve them as much as possible. Through many years of
great instruction Andrea became an accomplished rider, and
soon went on to pursue her goals of teaching and training.
Andrea studied for two years at The Ohio State University's
Agricultural Technical Institute under an Equine Science
Major. While in college she gained a wealth of experience as
an assistant instructor at a very busy lesson and boarding
barn. At this farm one of Andrea's biggest mentors Cheryl
Dye helped her prepare for certification through the Certified
Horsemanship Association (CHA). Andrea attended the
CHA clinic in 2005 and came home as a Level 4 Master
English Riding Instructor, which is the highest level within
the CHA for English disciplines. Andrea made the transition
to the dressage ring in 2005 after growing up riding
Hunters. Since then she has brought along these horses of
her own, along with many others two nuermous to
mention. Her first dressage project, and the reason she chose
to switch disciplines was "Roulette" a 20 year old ex-barrel
racer that she brought along to First level before she had to
retire. In 2007 Andrea purchased "Morafic" a 7 year old, very
green broke Haflinger. In just 1 1/2 years Andrea took him
up to 2nd level with scores in the mid 60's. Along the way
Andrea and Morafic received many awards and high point
trophies in Intro, Training, and First Level. Morafic was
sold in the fall of 2009 and Andrea is currently bringing
along her newest horse Koda Krome a 12 year old Half
Arab/Dutch Warmblood gelding, they are currently
schooling 3rd level, with hopes to show USEF shows in
2010. Another horse that is making a splash in the ring is
Theresa Anderson's Goloso's Enamarado, a 7 year old 1/2
Andalusian. Andrea has been training him for 2 years and
he is showing so much potential, and is currently schooling
1st level. Andrea's short term goal is to get her Bronze
Medal with Koda Krome, once she has done so she will have
received it riding ponies and small sport horses. She
specializes in bringing these small athletes along to their best
potential. Of course she is happy to work with "big" horses
as well. Andrea takes regular lessons with Lexi Myers, and
clinics several times a year with Dr. Thomas Ritter.
Teaching Philosophy
"When it comes to my students I strive to teach each rider
young and old how to safely and effectively handle and ride
these wonderful animals. I want to create a bond and
partnership that will last a lifetime. At Powder View Stables
we raise up respectful "horse people", people that treat these
animals with respect and integrity and let their patience and
kind way show through in everything they do. It is
important to not to create riders who chase ribbons but
riders who look for that moment when a horse throughly
enriches their life and teaches them a lesson. That to me is
the reason to be involved with horses; They are our greatest
teachers!"
Training Philosophy
"Building a solid foundation to work with is my first goal
when working with a new horse. Each horse is expected to
have the absolute best respect and ground manners before
moving on to being mounted. I am a firm believer in not
rushing a horse's training but progressing the training scale
as the horse succeeds and builds their mental and physical
capacity for harder work. Most of all I feel that regardless of
the horse's training history or background, they deserve a
patient kind hand, and an opportunity to succeed at the
discipline they are best suited for."

George Cole- Owner
While George may not be the next Olympic hopeful, or even a
rider at that, he certainly plays a big role in life at Powder View.
From building our barn, to helping with all the chores and
everything in between! Life would not exist at our barn without
him!
